Trade deadline thoughts
This may be a silly question, but why bother retaining salary on a deadline deal for a UFA? Could understand the retention if his contract had term, but doesn't seem like it'd really do much given his cap hit would be prorated. Is Boston that tight against the cap?

Make this trade and save your season
He has a no trade clause which seems to be the sticking point of signing his contract. The Preds couldn't trade him until the later years of the contract. Can't imagine he'd waive it now...

As a Preds fan, I'd love this...but in reality what is NJ going to do with another center and a prospect that maybe doesn't has as much luster as he used to?

Probably would need to move someone else to have a little cap wiggle room, but Duchene and Lee would be ideal IMO.

I'm not quite ready to say it's the best trade we've made, but I do believe Poile's hands were tied. Would love to actually know what was on the table across the several teams that were reportedly interested.
Ask me how I feel after the Free Agency fun. I have no problem shedding cap if you use it to make your team better. That part is yet to be seen, but we'll have an idea soon.

Why re-sign Josi when we can instead trade him for a 3rd pairing D-man, a prospect, and picks? It'll be fun!

We have an excess of strong defensemen. Moving him for a goal scoring forward makes sense, so he was sacrificed :)

From a pure player-to-player comparison, I'd much rather have Aho over Duchene. However, acquiring Duchene wouldn't require such drastic moves like parting with our leading goal scorer in Arvidsson and our best offensive prospect in Tolvanen.

Aho absolutely deserves that contract, but the trade would be a bit much to stomach for Nashville. The Preds biggest issue is they're currently a one line team. This trade would further cement that lack of depth. They could have a solid regular season, but they would not have what it takes to make a run.

The only knock on Subban is he's the highest paid player on a crowded blue line. And please, let me know where the "lousy teammate" part has reared its head in Nashville. Seems like we're relying on your omnipotent gut feeling here.
Ultimately, I'm not buying the "worn out his welcome" bit. The reality is Nashville has depth at the backend and minimal scoring from the forward corps. Simple as that.

This would be an interesting take if you didn't make the "gives me great glee" comment prior. Kinda negates the logic when it's clearly an emotionally charged opinion.
Objectively, PK's two seasons in Nashville have been mixed. One led to a Norris nomination and the other was marred by injuries and a less than stellar regular season. Unless the right deal is available, he'll be in Preds jersey. Cap can and would be dumped elsewhere with the likes of Turris and Bonino. Additionally, many in Nashville would prefer to move Ellis instead of Subban—so it's not because he's a bad player or a "distraction".

Blockbuster trade with oilers and leafs
Can't speak to the value on some of these trades, but this is an interesting Preds group. With these moves, approximately half of the team is different.
I'd be curious to see what this would look like on the ice, but Poile would have to absolutely go off on the deep end and get real trigger happy.

Nashville's entire offseason is centered around how to score more goals. Forsberg is one of their only legitimate scoring threats, so I don't like the odds of this one happening.

123 punch
This is a realistic first domino to fall in my opinion. Clear some space with Bonino to sign Duchene and go from there. Could end up shedding some further cap room with a trade of one of the defensemen or Turris depending on what Josi negotiations begin to look like.
