Weber to NSH if Weber wants to retire
I’m super curious to see how this all unfolds, not sure why Weber would want to flat out retire and walk away from all that money. Especially if it’s an injury that’s holding him back, he could just go on LTIR anyways. I think he still has a little vendetta for NSH trading him and would only go on LTIR if it’s in NSH. I don’t think they’d have to give up that much but they’d definitely have to give something up, I think that the first alone would be more than enough. I do get that MTL is doing NSH a huge favour, but a higher end prospect and a 1st in a stacked draft is unrealistic, maybe a B- or C prospect and the 1st.

The Preds biggest issue is they're currently a one line team. This trade would further cement that lack of depth. They could have a solid regular season, but they would not have what it takes to make a run.</div></div>
This is a fair point. But I think you’d end up paying Duchene just a mil less but he is not near as good as Aho. I’ll tweak some things.

except wing depth now bites. Salomaki is not a 3rd liner. Jarnkrok is not a 2nd liner on a real contender.

How unrealistic is this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Goldninja0</b></div><div>How tho</div></div>
Skinner got 9M as a winger, centers are more valuable than them. Hayes just got $7.14M and is very inferior to Duchene. Anything between 9.25-10M is a reasonable ask for him

If Nashville didn't have Josi, Ellis, Ekholm, and Fabbro coming up, he would be untouchable. Dealing from a position of strength isn't a bad thing.

Preds could get a much better player in a return for Josi I would think. Ellis would be a more comparable preds d in terms of value for a Drouin swap. But it's be sweet to see the Josi-Weber pairing again!

Big part of why these players rarely get traded. Edmonton is going to want a ton of current roster player s that will make the team better. The other team doesn’t want to cripple their team to acquire 1 player

I think this is a very realistic roster - though I'd replace tolvanen with grimaldi, as I don't think he's ready yet. And I think they keep Hamhuis. Maybe cut ties with Watson instead.

Taylor Hall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LordFrahnk</b></div><div>While I agree we're more likely to see Subban on the move than Ellis, he's not untouchable. I'm going to try and read between the lines here and say you don't want to trade Ellis because you think he is a better player, better value, or something similar. That's the exact reason why other teams would want him instead of PK. Swapping in Ellis instead of PK is something that may get ultimately get a deal done.</div></div>
You're not far off although it may be the opposite. David Poile may decide that since PK is the better player (which he is) that he'd be more willing to move Ellis. Granted, the optics of moving Ellis before his team-friendly extension (below market value, no trade protection) kicks in would not be very good.

D for Forward
Don't see the need to buy out Bonino. he's coming off a solid regular season, and there are young rebuilding teams that could use a vet like him. He could command some kind of return from a non-contender with the cap space for him. Especially considering he's is the type of player teams pay a premium for come playoff time. A team like Buffalo or Arizona could do well by getting a year or two out of him, then flipping him for more than they paid for, at the deadline.

Big move with NSH plus moves with MIN and EDM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LordFrahnk</b></div><div>I'd say you're spot on. Preds have to move someone with a significant cap hit to free up room, however, the pieces Poile would ultimately agree to move for a scoring threat like Nylander aren't as appealing to other teams for that exact same reason.</div></div>
It's this dynamic that actually makes me enjoy the cap system. it really forces teams to weigh alot of options that they likely wouldn't otherwise and forces some discipline on management regimes. It's a constant balancing act between whats needed right now and how you build for sustained success, and it very well could mean that a team needs to consciously take a step back from one season to the next in order to get their ducks in a row 2 years out. Or even harder... a team might need to move on from someone they don't want to because their contract blows the cap structure and weakens the overall team, no matter how good they are individually.
All that, and math. I really like math.

Not enough for Subban, quality over quantity. That’s a lot of meh for Subban. Shultz is good, but the big reason to move Subban is to give Fabbaro a spot in the top 4 next year and getting Schultz back doesn’t do that. Johnson is a cap dump and Rust is okay but not the offensive punch Nashville would need to move Subban.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>I think you and I see Nashville differently. There are on the downswing and are not competing for a Cup anytime soon. They have 1-2 forwards on good contracts and 2 D on good contracts (changes after next year). This team has missed it's window. And Subban is not their #1 D, Josi is.</div></div>
They haven't missed their window, No one that is a significant piece is even over 29. You could argue that they have two number 1's. My point was PK would be a number 1 on most teams.
