Description

Wings have 11 million in cap space without Zetterberg and Franzen on LTIR and 21 players on roster. What will Yzerman do with potentially 21 million in cap? he could leverage that space to get picks or players to eat others cap issues. It will be an interesting draft week to see how if any moves are made.

Yzerman is smart and lays his plans 4 years out. If you are another GM, and he calls, definitely do not answer the phone.
I am guessing he will sign/trade RFAs, not UFAs. UFAs are past their prime and the back end of the contract usually doesn't work well. It is fine if you are in the team's window to win (like the TJ Oshie contract), and the UFA pushes it over the finish line to a Cup, but the Wings are 3 years out. Yzerman is the best GM of the Salary Cap era. He will figure it out.

he'll eat cap and add a pick or two or prospect. None of the ufas really seems worth chasing for us except maybe myers. he could be a good piece for the next 5 years or so
