The 2 year plan

Created by: AvsFan2119
Team: 2019-20 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 6, 2019
Published: Jun. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team is built to win the cup in the next 2 seasons before the expansion draft. It gonna require that rantanen take a pay cut in the next 2 years but if you give everything in singing bonus and tell him hes gonna be sign for 8yrs/96+ in his next contract it might work. Both Duchene and Panarin come in to win on 2yrs/20. I don't see any weakness on this team and if you can get everyone in a room a take a small paycut for 2 year to win unlike the leafs It might work! In Sakic I trust!
Note: If duchene and panarin does work you can always sign 2 other top free agent and give the rest of the money you saved on those to Rantanen (probably more realistic but I can still dream)

No chance Rantanen takes that pay, and no chance Duchene signs with this team again. Also, a very small chance that the 4OA pick can play this coming year. Dreaming's awesome, but don't go getting your hopes up with those two.

JT and Kerfoot will probably get more too.

I'd disagree on JT & Kerfoot, that's the right kind of money, but you're right on all the rest.

4OA will be a great player there's lots more talent then people might think this year or at least as good as tkachuk and look what he did. We can always sign lee and zucc or skinner or nyquist for between 6-8M each and have enough to pay rantanen like 9-10 and give a little extra to JT and kerfoot. We needed more dept last year and this achieved that and let the first line do what they do best. I don't see that option as a dream.

Kerfoot? Probably close, but I think JT will get above 3.

O absolutely, 4OA will be a fantastic player, but no one is projecting anyone besides Hughes/Kakko to start the year in the NHL. Signing two of Lee/Zucc/Skinner/Hayes/Nyquist/Panarin/Johansson would be the dream summer. Lock up Rantanen long term, sign JT and Z, give Kerfoot a bridge deal and use him as expansion fodder.

I think Nyquist would be the best free agent signing if he could be signed for reasonable money.

Maybe. I certainly wouldn't quibble about 250 to 500k. smile

By the way, love the profile pic. One of my favourite Swedes along with 'The Viking' (and though he played for our then deadly rivals I also had a begrudging soft spot for Holmstrom). King Peter was arguably the best all around player to play the game.

I think it's gonna be a dream summer because of the playoff run. There's not a single UFA that would't want to play with a defense dynamic like the avs. They would get a lot more chances to score. Right now I don't see a lot of teams with more hype that the avs for next season. At least in the teams that can afford to pay those bug contracts.

Haha thanks! I wish we could've seen the numbers he'd have put up if he hadn't been so injury-riddled. He'll always be my favorite player

We're certainly one of the more attractive destinations. Don't know if Joe will hand out huge contracts if it's the wrong player though, lots to think about over the next 3-4 years.

Yeah, if only. But numbers weren't the only part of his game to judge him on. He could do pretty much anything. Just such a great player.

O absolutely, I'm just curious where he would've ended up in total points. He just wasn't the same player after the early 2000s because of those injuries. And yet, when you look at his stats as a whole, he was still a 1.25 PPG player, and that's with those injury riddled seasons haha
