Initial Creation Date: Jun. 11, 2019
Published: Jun. 11, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Signing the minor league forwards to check out the potential lineup w/suzuki in it + Hudon, as apparently Haps aren't looking to trade him anymore but I definitely can't see him playing any more than the pre season for the team.

Actual moves:
-Dumping Alzner for a random pick (I doubt there's a buyout that will occur, most likely a retained salary if needed)
-Dumping Weise to a rebuilding team with cap space

ACTUAL moves:
-Trading for Ghost according to multiple rumours that suggest Shaw might be gone, as he is very productive but has an unfavourable contract. Would suck for him to leave but I think he'd fit in well in Philly and I'd rather get a top 2 LD (Byron or Danault were the other rumoured players but I don't think Berg would want to move them over Shaw's contract + they all have around the same point production when healthy)
-Signing Duchene. Not much else to say, he's been a rumour for the past couple weeks and even with new teams like Arizona attempting to get him, I still think the Haps are the front runner. He might wanna go to Nashville but the Haps might produce a better pitch meeting to him if needed and they could offer him a more suitable contract.

that offer doesn't get you close to Gostisbhere. You said it yourself, Shaw is on an "unfavourable contract" which decreases his value. A couple of 2nd round picks doesn't make up enough to get Gostisbhere who's on a great contract.

Alzner isn't being moved. Either buried or bought out is the option. Unless Montreal retains a huge chunk of his contract, he's almost as unmovable as Lucic.

Why does Ottawa need Weise?

Also, I don't understand why everyone is undervaluing Ghost today. Someone on CF told me Shaw for Ghost straight up is fair.

what do you think of a Shaw ,Juulsen , 2nd ,3nd trade ? Why would Van take Alzner in a million$ year ?

I've seen plenty of Montreal trade offers with Shaw to Philly for Gostisbehere. Nobody wants Shaw

I think it's better but not good enough. Shaw is the rough contract, Juulsen may have a career lingering at best eye injury, then the picks are just mid round. Juulsen would only be included if the eye issue is cleared up and if Philly felt comfortable taking him on. If they did, it'd be a lot closer at Shaw, Juulsen and Montreal's 1st in this years draft

I think Shaw would be a perfect move. He put up almost 50 points, and was injured half the season for the Habs. You want a slightly less productive, more gritty guy with leadership, skill and determination, go for Shaw (go for Gallagher actually but he's never leaving). Apparently right now the discussions between the Flyers and Habs include Shaw, so who knows. I do think that it might take another prospect or something else, but I don't think that making the 2 seconds the first would change much, you're still getting two seconds at 15th and around 20th.

Then, it is possible that Alzner could get moved, but his salary would proably get retained at least 25% (wouldn't be surprised if it was 50%). He could still be used as a bottom pairing defenseman on a team that needs a more defensive-minded player.

In all fairness he put up close to 50 points and was out for a good chunk of games. Yes his contract is wonky but it's not too long term and he could literally be used on any line if put with the right linemates

I think there could be an arugment between the two Gm's on why Shaw's a valuable asset.

I picked Van as a random team with cap, could've been any1 else

The Flyers have no use for Shaw and if they did get him, he'd be a 4th line guy and PK guy and come no where close to 50 points making that contract even worse. Shaw can play C or RW. Currently the Flyers have Couturier, Patrick, Laughton and possibly Hayes at C (even Giroux if needed) and Voracek, Konency, and Hartman at RW (and they could easily bring up young players on ELC to fill the 4th RW spot. So where does Shaw fit in Philly? He doesn't. Don't believe every rumour you hear, it was probably more likely that the teams were having talks and Montreal asked Philly to take Shaw and Philly said no. That's technically "having talks" about a guy but it's not progress talks, there's a big difference there.

Alzner is almost unmovable. His skating is brutal and he's overpaid. He couldn't pay bottom pairing minutes last season and was sent down to the AHL. Good luck moving that contract without moving any significant asset (like attaching Suzuki, or Poehling or someone to the deal, which Montreal obviously wouldn't do)

That's honestly a brutal understatment. I'm not sure if you've ever watched Andrew Shaw play, but let me tell you this. He played most of the season with either a rookie (Kotkaniemi), Lehkonen, Byron or even Thompson. And he put up 47 points in 63 games! I'm not saying it'll happen, but it's possible.

And for a 50% retained salary and a third round pick even, theres a way he could get traded to a team with cap space

LOL.. you think Shaw plays more over Couturier, Patrick, Laughton and possibly Hayes at C (even Giroux if needed) and Voracek, Konency, and Hartman at RW. You're delusional. Shaw wouldn't be close to Philly's top 9 when you add in Lindblom and JVR. They even have 3 or 4 prospects that would play ahead of Shaw. He's overpaid and he'd be at best a 4th liner on the Flyers. They wouldn't have interest for Gostisbhere.

Lol. every one of the players that I listed has more skill than Shaw and would be ahead of him on the depth chart. If you think otherwise I'd love to see some stats to back it up. Shaw is an overpaid bottom 6 player. Wouldn't see any PP time in Philly or any significant time in the top 6. He'd be lucky to hit 35 points in Philly, which makes the contract even worse.

At worse, Laughton is equal to Shaw. But the fact the Laughton is cheaper and already on the team so he doesn't cost Philly anything to get, gives him the edge over Shaw. But congrats, you really made your point with that great pun wink LOL

what ahaha. Let's see Laughton get 47 points while playing with mediocre U25 players, get injured and still beat up a 6 foot defenseman.

Im not the same guy you've been talking to (shared account) but all we know is that Philly IS interested in Andrew Shaw and this was confirmed by many reliable sources (Can list). We're not saying what will happen, it is a speculation based on "rumour". However, you cannot say that it is indefinite as the sources, above mentioned, say otherwise. I am befuddled that you have chosen to call us "delusional" (inadequate vocabulary in which you do not have the acumen to comprehend). This Web-Site, or subdivision of a web-page is meant for speculation, predictions, etcetera. The cogitation materializing substantiates the authenticity that is inconsequential. You have no inkling regarding who you're aggressing. If you want to deliberate "real hockey" you will simulacrum the unyielding and most burdensome colloquy of your plenary life.

Laughton played primarily 4th line minutes with a little bit of 3rd line and still had 32.. out him in a top 6 role with skilled young players like Kotkiniemi and I'm sure another 10-15 points is plausible LOL

Actually if you could read, I said "They wouldn't have interest for Gostisbehere" for Shaw.. good contract for bad contact. Montreal has to add a lot more than just a couple of 2nd round picks for that that happen.

Good thing you don't have any viable sources to back it up, while my partner who had superior knowledge in this section due to the research he concluded could defy any personal 'speculation' that Ghostisbehere is worth more than Shaw and a couple picks. We are using proper sources, while you are saying what you are biased on.
