This is mostly about the trade with the Leafs. Everything else was to just make that trade work in the end. Also I'm assuming Kadri says yes to being traded to Pittsburgh. Hopefully them Leaf fans are ok with this idea haha

Kadri gives the Pens toughness and a 2-way game that's really needed at the 3rd center spot, especially against a heavier Caps and Islanders teams. Kapanen brings scoring and speed. Bjustad offers the leafs a slightly cheaper 3 line center with room to grow offensively, Pettersson gives them a young quality stay home d-man that's controllable and brings only 1.5-2m contract, and Jarry also give them a slightly cheaper/younger quality backup with control than Sparks.

Maatta just needs a fresh start. He was very good in both cup winning runs but injuries are just taking its toll on him. His game would be better suited in a more defensive structure system. LA could be a nice fit and a good change in scenery (maybe some more sun will do him better). Forbort and MacDermid add some size and toughness to the backend that clearly isn't tough enough outside of Gudbranson
