Explain why Anaheim would do that. I don't think you can!

Line combos are a little out of whack but the idea is good.

Anaheim needs to dump a defenseman and a goalie prior to the expansion draft or they will risk losing them for nothing. They simply have too many goalies and defenseman to protect.
That being said, there needs to be better value going back to Anaheim to make the deal worthwhile on their end. I personally think that JVR needs to be included as IMO their LW depth is the weakest of the 3 forward positions. On top of draft picks, I would also think that Anaheim would be looking for decent prospects from earlier drafts that would NOT require protection in the expansion draft (Valiev, Kapanen, Andreas Johnson for example).

I'm certain Anaheim can get a much better return even if they need to dump players. Good teams don't dump quality for the sake of dumping players.

Vatanen is signed, looks like it is lindholm on the market instead. Bob murray tweeted today hes looking to trade for a left hand shooting 1st line LW. I think JVR is value enough as the main piece but other teams (like edmonton) could also offer similar, maybe even greater value.
