So what do you think is a fair pick to give up?

The Ehlers trade is very bad for Detroit. If Detroit trades AA to Winnipeg Connor is coming to Detroit.

No way Edmonton gives that up for Helm besides Manning and Gagner at 29 each do not fit in to Detroit's rebuild at all.

The Callahan buyout looks like this $2.7M in year 1 and $1.6M in year 2. Just something to think about when offering a fair trade.

Ehlers is younger and has produced more, I would take the risk that he just had an off year. I like AA but we will have to pay him next year and getting ride of Daley helps youth dmen get into the line up

In the Edmonton trade, manning and Gagner are just clearing up cap space for Edmonton so they can fit Helm. Neither will play a game with Detroit. Kenny loves helms type of player. Very good pk and defensive forward that is very fast.

Now at that price it is not worth it. Giving TB a 5th and getting 3rd or 4th in return. TB can keep Callahan.

The problem is without AA at the #2 center spot Larkin gets about 20 goals instead of 32. With AA speed and offensive awareness he is a scoring threat every time he is on the ice. That forces teams to plan for both lines. Detroit doesn't have another player in the team that can do that. Detroit can trade him but it would be a mistake they would end up regretting it.

Dont think any of these trades make sense for the Wings. Obviously tampa wont give up a 1st but I think the wings would take a prospect and 3rd as well as Callahan for the cap relief.
