Smart moves. As a Blackhawks fan this gives me heartburn. Especially since either Byram or Turcotte will be on the team the following year.

I don't think the Leafs are packaging Nylander to get rid of Marleau. I realize there's a bit of value coming back, I just don't see that happening. Couldn't hurt Sakic to ask though.

That's quite a bit of value tho coming back. I think youre getting a pretty fair return. Who knows maybe Jost lights it up playing with Tavares and Marner.

I think if it was for Tyson Barrie, with a contract extension, there may be a different conversation.

But Nylander is very good, his deal is looking better and better right now and he's been assured by the Leafs GM he's not getting traded. I don't see him moving unless the value is through the roof.

I like the idea of targeting Meier, but the Sharks will match that no matter what. Plus I don't see Meier signing a 3-year deal since I think he'd want 4+ to get to UFA at expiration or just a 1-2 year bridge.

Also no chance Mikko signs for that cheap. But cool ideas overall.
