They also sent an Offer Sheet to Hjalmarsson at the time, IIRC

They offer sheeted Hjalmarsson and forced the Hawks to pick between their cup winning goaltender and their 4th Defensman. They went to arbitration with Niemi and won. But declined to tender a contract. He took less with the Sharks on a 1 year deal. Played stellar for a few months, then got paid nearly double the 1 year deal for 4 years.
