Years. We’re talking about years. And either. Literally anything but 4

He won't sign for anything less, and I would only go to 5 years then. I'm not concerned about losing him for nothing however.

To be honest there really is no major issue with him signing for 4 years.

It’s never happened in nhl history. Why do you think that is? It’s because teams either want to sign players to short term deals where the player is still an rfa (bridge deal, in this instance 1-3 years) or buy out as many years of unrestricted free agency as possible. No player has signed a deal that buys out 0 years of ufa, and brings the player to ufa.

So every gm in nhl history disagrees with you. There is a huge, massive issue with signing him to 4 years.

Don’t bother. I’ve tried talking to him logically about contracts. He doesn’t understand very much. At all.

Oh I understand, I'm just trying to put the Bruins in the best possible position to win a cup in the next 3 years

Key word, “trying.” Anybody can try. You’re just doing a terrible job
