100% there is an age gap. but leddy isnt old by any means and the swap of player types makes alot of sense for both teams. the isles could definitely add draft pick value here to the trade

No to the Miller deal. Would rather keep Beau who is cheaper and loved here.

Second deal I do. Not a Drouin fan but he'd be a very good fit.

I just don't see the canadiens wanting leddy when gostisbehere is available to be completely honest

Oh forsure! Leddy will get isles a return. But in all honesty I'd like to see isles keep their team together and add a couple pieces to make another run in playoffs

miller was playing on the 3rd and then 4th line this year. he's a 50 point player easy with a bigger role and he brings a nice physical game as well to the table. the isles have been open to trading beau all year. the lightning have to trade players away bc of major cap issues and this is a great buy-low option

They were only open to trading Beau for Mark Stone. I don't think they were just giving him away. Trading him straight up for Miller doesn't make sense from a financial or hockey perspective right now. It wouldn't be buy low.

Miller for a 2nd and a prospect, that's buying low and that I would do.

you are overvaluing beau. he hasn't shown to be a viable top 6 forward and he's not the best bottom 6 forward either due to his size. when he's not getting handfed passes by barzal he really isn't that noticeable. he's a player without a role on this team and may have the most value right now. also, the isles are swimming in cap space while the lightning have none. that's why the lightning would even consider this swap.

That's not enough to convince me that Beauvillier needs to be moved straight up for a guy that Beauvillier could be at a much higher price tag. I'd rather to our roster with Beauvillier than marginally upgrade him and have to go out and get another guy.

I'm not saying Miller wouldn't be useful here. I'd give him a shot, but not at the cost of Beauvillier.

Gostisbehere isn't getting traded unless its such a good offer Fletcher Can't refuse it. he's not dumb enough to give up a 40-60 point defenseman on a sweetheart deal. MTL fans are dreaming

this is what one says when they have no clue about positional value nor the implications of supply and demand.

put it this way. the isles need top 6 help. they can get that for pretty cheap in miller. they most likely will trade beau this summer bc they dont have a spot to play him. dal colle is better at the 3rd line defensive role than he is and he is clearly not a top 6 player. this isnt a marginal upgrade. Miller posted 58 and 56 points the 2 years before this one when he was given top 6 minutes. hes miles better than beauvillier

the order of positional value is as follows

RHD
LHD
C
W

Skill set value among D:

Puck mover
Two way
Shutdown

So leddy a LH proven top 4 puck moving D, who before this year had 37, 40, 46, 42 points, on reasonable contract good for another 3 years, isn't worth a first round pick LMFAO, god you're dumb. what did Shattenkirk go for in 2017 as a 2 month Rental? what did Hamonic go for as nonrental? puck movers cost a premium, contracts w term and a amicable cap hit are premium. Only someone who pontificates and has absolutely no idea what they're talking about would say OnLy A sTuPiD gM WoUlD TrAde A FiRsT FoR LedDy. go home little boy and play NHL 19 you don't know what you're talking about

no offense man but what the hell does goaltending have to do with a thread about the value of nick leddy? he did have a valid point about the value nick leddy should have. not sure if you were trolling and agree with it or...

Not trolling. But he made a chart of value and didn't have goaltending included. Thats a miss step. Right handed d are extremely valuable Nick Leddy is a great 28 year old defenseman who plays on the LEFT SIDE. At this very moment Lefty's aren't in short supply.

not really a misstep. we're talking skaters here. goalies are a totally different category. their value is extremely hard to qualify. but thats a nitpick which had nothing to do with the points being made. and proven top 4 lefty defenseman ARE in short supply.

Leddy is the guy everyone pursues once all the big fish are signed and traded so when that happens yes leddy is high demand but sounds like leddy might not be on the trade block anyways

Who exactly are the big fish?? Leddy is a better player than all the lefty free agent defensemen. and trade-wise, who is on the block who is better? gostisbehere? he'll cost a monumental package and therefore may not be going anywhere. who else is being moved? it's actually a really small market

Jake Gardiner LHD, Tyler Myers RHD, P.K. Subban RHD, Shayne Gostisbehere LHD, TJ Brodie LHD that plays right side), Travis Hamonic RHD, Colin Miller RHD, Dougie Hamilton RHD, Justin Faulk RHD, Alec Martinez Lefty that plays right side, Jeff Petry RHD
