I'll be the only one who says the Ristolainen trade helps the Sabres no matter what the return.

The Vegas trade is a joke. A career minor leaguer who can't skate, not high on Thompson, the 10th OA and the 31st OA for Karlsson and the 17th OA. Almost as bad as TML trade Marleau for a 7th and the other team buys him out trade.

Not sure what's wrong with that trade. Vegas cant afford Karlsson, unless they move several other pieces (albeit which i think is more likely but you never know). So they give up a good center to move up 7 spots in the draft, add another 1st and get a cost controlled young winger with room to develop. Tage is only 21 and has the size and tools and especially the shot. If Vegas (or anyone) can coach him right I think he has top 6 potential. Vegas takes that since he's cheap and they have a good coach.
