This may be true. I'd be willing to give up slightly more for Timo. SJ has a choice - sign Timo which will preclude them from signing any depth. Right now they have $15mm in cap space and only have 7 forwards signed. If Timo does get $7mm (which he deserves) that leaves 8mm to fill 4 forward spots and you UFA like Pavelski, thonton, nyquist, donskoi, lebanc

I don't think hes available unless part of a package for a significant piece. I think butcher/vatanen go before he does. I could see a move if he was in a package that brought back a spurgeon caliber player, but even then I'd rather go Vats/Butcher/+ and see if that works first. Then weaponize the cap and package some poached assets (tampa 1st/VGK anything) with some nj players that need a scenery change (mcleoud, quennville, etc) to bring back a guy like pesce on a deep defensive team looking for cheaper offense.

I'm not asking to trade Shatty for Severson. What I'm saying is I propose an offer to you: Severson + a 2nd round pick to the Rangers for a 5th round pick. That's essentially the offer listed here. You see the chart. How would you react?

I'm not following I guess. If you're saying the rangers doing that is moronic point taken, I think severson has significantly higher value than shattenkirk and its evident theyre trying to dump him. Given the context of the post, the purpose the dude who started this was going for was moving shattenkirk off the books. If the value is off okay got it, but hes saying dump shattenkirk. People on here are very literal

right I'm saying Shattenkirk is heavily undervalued by the fanbase and his real value is a lot closer to Severson than not (main difference being age and contract). The Rangers aren't trying to get rid of Shattenkirk because of poor play. They're getting rid of him because they have an excess of RHD. If Shatty was a LHD he'd be a lock on the team.
