Are they downgrading really? 40-50 points, likely not to be suspended during a playoff run, AND Ducks are eating 50% of the salary. Kappy is for $2.9 million over 5 years.

Yes, Kadri to Henrique is a downgrade. Sure there's cap savings and Henrique at $3,025,000 is an attractive center option as a 3C, but I'd rather have Kadri at $4.5M than Henrique at $3.025M. If Tavares/Matthews are injuried Kadri can step up comfortably.

I personally don't think it's that big a downgrade.

Check out my flip side to Mighty Ducked Up. The move gives the Leafs a s**t tonne of flex......

Why would anyone want to trade Getzlaf? He's still producing 1+ point per game average!

Why of course when you give away players who you would be paying money to play for your team you gain cap space. That doesn't mean we should just give away Marner though.

We both know something has to give in Leafland. I like going outside the box

Fair enough, I just think the leafs clearly lose this trade and its not even close.

you're going to make Kadri a first line center, then you're going to put Rakell who is a wing only now back to center, where he struggled when he played it.

That buffalo trade is atrocious. The ducks give up the 2 better players and get nothing for it. Kase is better than nylander and Bogosian is nothing but a cap dump. Not to mention how bad the TOR trade is for the leafs.

Yup. But the Dusks suck, so for a season while Steele develops on the 3rd line, I would do this yes.

I am intrigued that most think Hendrique is a massive downgrade. I saw it as fairly lateral.

Kadri to Henrique could be a lateral move but you added Kapanen plus to the trade.

For eating $15 million. That comes at a cost.
