I don't see a lot of reason for the Predators to make that move. I'd argue that Ellis is their best all around defenseman, and Kadri isn't the type of center that they'd be looking for.

the speculation is that Marner might want a Matthews type contract 5ish years @ 10.5 or so.. that gets him to UFA.. where he can then make $12-$13 million when the cap is even higher.. either way he costs you AT LEAST 10.5 but i believe they offered him that @ 8 years.. so its either the term or he wants 11m+

They wont trade Ellis for kadri. They have like 8 centers
