Deadline Explanation Essay sorry
I think the explanation is great. I just think the CHI trade needs a better prospect and likely upgrading the 4th to a 3rd. I'm a leafs fan here, so i have to wonder what that prospect is. I love the trade idea though. Fits a lot of Toronto's needs.
Sadly they seem to be doing something with Vancouver But i am all about this.

Again I just picked them as an example, I can change it to Calgary if that will make everyone satisfied.

Is it? What would you rather? Nashville says they are going to mix things up. If I am being honest I think Nylander=Ellis pretty evenly but nobody buys that because then I'm suddenly underrating ellis and overrating Nylander but age plays a factor too. I also think Jonhsson isn't some nobody plug, he's playing a .5 ppg pace before his injury and he can top top/middle 6 role with the team, what else needs to be added? I think toronto does everything in their power to not trade away a first round pick or Sandin so what else is to be added Liljegrin?

And Hanifin doesn't work for Toronto so now the deal falls apart. The one piece from calgary the leafs would want is Andersson and I 100% agree the flames shouldn't and wouldn't do that so the leafs will take their business elsewhere.

Hanifin shoots left... I think the idea is interesting but they'd probably want Andersson instead, least that's what I'd be pushing for if I was the leafs. Right handed Defenseman.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>My problem is that you basically admit Johnsson is a cap dump in one of you previous posts. The logic does not follow that you trade a Cap Dump for a first pairing RHD and then ask if you guys overpaid.
I created a post which you may or not be a fan of because it dumps Johnsson for a mid round pick, let’s toronto keep Kapanen while acquiring Murphy. Here’s the link to the ACGM. Murphy is a good right handed defenseman, and those don’t get moved very easily.
Edit: don’t mind the Buffalo side, can be any team willing to aquire Johnsson for a third and an underperforming prospect.
<a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1802849">https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1802849</a></div></div>
I was thinking that Dermott would be the ideal piece as he's a young and potential top 4 D. Also while I say Johnsson is a cap dump he is still a decent middle 6 forward. I looked at your and think we can all agree that the value is close of a kappy for murphy or a 1st for murphy. Would a Dermott/johnsson/Second rder Be better? I don't think the leafs are aiming to trade away a first round pick either and we're just speaking hypothetically anyways. I appreciate you making an attempt at a counter offer instead of just the "Chicago laughs and hangs up on you" or whatever.

I think the leafs are more keen on holding onto Kappy over Johnsson and I'm using this as a way to dump the 3.4 from Johnsson's cap hit. Maybe Chicago flips him right away? I have no idea, I could see maybe a team like Ottawa getting involved as like a three way trade or maybe detroit. I just needed to move Johnsson out and I think Murphy is pretty close to exactly what they need for the right side D, he chews up 20minutes-ish a game and his advanced numbers say that he's very good in his own zone and just fine in opp's zone on top of the fact is PK numbers are pretty decent.
I'd not be against the idea of trading Kappy though i think Chicago would need to add then sadly.

Two trades your thoughts
Well I was trying to figure out why toronto would want to do that trade as I know little of John Moore and knew he was like bostons 7th D. Then I was trying to understand why Boston would trade a divisional rival.
Then I realized that this was just to screw over toronto by making them sit with a 2.75 mil contract for another lefty that isn't going to really improve their back end for another three years. Toronto probably just doesn't get involved in this even if they trade away Ceci. Leafs have made enough dumb mistakes.

Toronto Rejects that, the LD prospect is meh, Saad is worse then Nylander and only signed for this year and next, where as Nylander is signed for another 5 years.
I don't think there is anyone on Chicago's lineup that interests Toronto sadly and they're in the win now mode so they don't want picks for Nylander.

Thinking outside the house that is outside of the box
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>Dear god no!!! I took a look into it. The only thing that I could come up with would be a trade around bear and Russel for zaitsev and brown. This works out a bit better for the oilers but I’m not sure about the leafs.
Russel could not play top pair, so it leaves a glaring hole. Dermott could play 2nd pair RD so this would essentially give us 2 bottom pairing Dmen. If Dermott were to play with Rielly I could see it working with bear and Russel filling out the roster.
Certainly better options out there for both teams.</div></div>
I moved on myself, I couldn't find a single deal that looked good. If Russel was like.. 5 years younger i'd consider it because he was this weird anomaly of shot blocking defense machine but terrible advanced stats. I think Detroit is interested in Zaitsev so i dumped him there for a pick. Vancouver will only be interested in they somehow don't get Myers.

The only i would note is Gus is a UFA after this year. That factors in a bit, I think the leafs could add a third or a Conditional second on that deal with him having to resign to get the second.

Think he could compliment a player like kapanen. It would give the leafs a chance to find a suitable replacement over 2 years. Could be developed traded for or even ufa in the future. Helps the cap for now.
I love the idea of hamonic in Toronto, perfect artner for Rielly. I am also a flames fan though and I get the feeling that hamonic will be re signed.
A deal involving Kadri a pick and a decent RHD prospect (not Lilly) for hamonic and jankowski (or if we get really lucky Bennet) would be a solid hockey trade both ways.</div></div>
I actually considered that too and maybe Spezza is the option but i heard he's going to sign in Ottawa so i moved on from that.

I would imagine that it would be a price the leafs do not want to pay. I think there are other players that could fill that role with a cheaper trade value. To be honest I think you need a playmaker to go there with JT.
The blues trade looks better. I don’t think the blues make that deal either but it seems close to fair.
When I make trades I usually try to pinpoint players that are either on the block or I can see good reason for them to be moved out.</div></div>
Yeah I've done and seen enough of the Kappy + Z + whatever for Pesce deals. I am just looking outside of the box, what are things that we can least expect. I don't think the blues do it either but it's merely the concept of what's accepted. The problem I always see is everyone the trade block is all offensive minded, don't PK and toronto needs help on PK
