Description

Habs are my team but I do like Vegas. As an outsider, these are the players I would keep if I was George McPhee. I did not put any players/prospects/picks in the trades as I do not know fair value for those players. Simply illustrating what the roster could look like.

They won't let both Smith and Eakin go. It will be one or the other. They definitely won't trade McNabb, he is on a very team friendly contract being our best shutdown guy.. Miller and/or Holden will be moved. Reeves maybe as well

Possibly. However, since Patches as 15 team no trade list, it will be interesting to see if any of those can a) fit him under their cap and b) actually want him. Vegas may try to trade Patches but I think they may be stuck with him. And Vegas can't retain any salary on the deal, which will make it even tougher for them to rid of.

He's really the guy they need to move though, age, position and contract size makes him the most logical one to move. Obviously some other guys will be moved but of all the bigger contracts on the Knights he's the one they should move.

I don't disagree. I think it will depend on the return they could get. Smith could be really enticing for a lot of teams. Eakin would be a great 3C on most top end teams. One of those teams that has some prospects or picks galore, could overpay to get Eakin in their line up. I think Smith gets you at least a 2nd rounder plus a B+/A- prospect and minor leaguer.

The important thing is that there is no one guy that has to go like with the Leafs Marleua/Zaitsev on bad contracts. They will listen for the best offer/return on anyone not named Stone
Vegas really isn't in that bad of a spot, there are 3 or 4 others teams with bigger cap issues
