Timo and Labanc will not sign that low. Not even close. Joakim Ryan? Please.

Labanc made $625,000 last season. His uptick started at the beginning of this calendar year. He's not worth more then that until he proves he can score 20 goals 2 years in arow. Timo at $5M is a great raise and good bridge deal for sharks. The buy in is for everyone to understand. Pavelski, Meier, Labanc, Thornton, all need to sacrifice to have another run at the cup. There's a thing called insurance to cover injury if that should happen to any of them to cover there potential money loses.

It makes zero sense for Carolina to buyout Marleau, he would still carry his full cap hit. If they are going to be spenders (which the de Haan trade today justifies), they will trade him at 50% retained.

Patrick marleau waived he is no movement clause with the understanding that the hurricane would buy out his contract. After the trade hurricane general manager stated that he would talk to Patrick before the buyout would take place. Marleau has publicly stated that the only team he would want to play with this coming year other than the Leafs would be San Jose. Carolina effectively bought a first round and 3rd round pick from Toronto $6.25M and to guarantee that they would reach the salary cap floor.
