Bordeleau Looking Good
I tend to think that if Joe Will or the next GM add a good draft pick they can get Simek moved. Overall I tend to agree with you that bringing up the young kids and letting them develop is the
best thing to do for the Sharks. I'm just so used to looking at these fantasy GM pages and just laughing at most of them. Yours surprised me because there weren't a lot of crazy moves.

Do you expect this team to make the playoffs? There really is no difference between 21/22 to your 22/23 team except for one more year of experience. I dought the Coyote's take Hill back and Simek an any deal.

Buyout rules.
I don't understand the buyout rules. I look at Kevin Shattenkirk buyout with the New York Rangers. The Buyout happened in August 1, 2019. Shattenkirk had a remaining cash value on the contract of $6.6M in 2019/20 and $4M in 2020/21 or $10.6M. The Cap hit on each year was $6.65M or $13.3M for two years. Shattenkirk signed with the Lightning for the 2019/2020 season for $1.75M and then signed a 3 year $11.7M contract with Anaheim. Here's where I get confused. As I understand the rule, A player who is over 26 gets his contract bought out for 2/3 value which would be $7,066,666,67 spread out over 4 years. That would be $1,766,666,67 over 4 year at cash value. If you used the cap figure of $13.3M the buyout total would be $8,866,666.67 or $2,216,666.67 for 4 years.
What is listed is Amount of Buyout $5,733,333.33 Then in the cap hit section I see (2019/20 $1,433,333.00) (2020/21 $6,083,333.00) (2021/22 $1,433,333.00) (2022/23 $1,433,333.00) This equals $10,383,332
I don't get the logic here

Well the first two parts of what I thought would happen did happen. Braun was treated for to drop pics to shed his 3.9 million dollars in salary, and Karlsson was signed to an eight year 92 million dollar deal. With the cap reduced to 81.5 million this coming season, every unrestricted and restricted free agent the sharks have will have to take some sort of Hometown discount if they all want to go for another championship run together.

Sharks after free agency starts
Patrick marleau waived he is no movement clause with the understanding that the hurricane would buy out his contract. After the trade hurricane general manager stated that he would talk to Patrick before the buyout would take place. Marleau has publicly stated that the only team he would want to play with this coming year other than the Leafs would be San Jose. Carolina effectively bought a first round and 3rd round pick from Toronto $6.25M and to guarantee that they would reach the salary cap floor.

Sharks after free agency starts
Labanc made $625,000 last season. His uptick started at the beginning of this calendar year. He's not worth more then that until he proves he can score 20 goals 2 years in arow. Timo at $5M is a great raise and good bridge deal for sharks. The buy in is for everyone to understand. Pavelski, Meier, Labanc, Thornton, all need to sacrifice to have another run at the cup. There's a thing called insurance to cover injury if that should happen to any of them to cover there potential money loses.

Sharks with Karlsson Pavelski Donskoi and Trade for Marleau
Why would Toronto take on 7.55 Million in Salary? Why would we take on 4.5 of Patrick Marleau Salary for a player that's skills are diminished worse then Joe Thornton? You traded both Dillon and Braun, I think that is to much of a lose.

We Didn't Want Tavares Anyway
Why would you want Gibbons, He is 30 and only marginal. Is it because he is A good PK player. I understand that. I suggest we p/u LW Anthony Duclair. Duclair is 22 and at 20 scored 20 goals and 44 points for the Coyotes. He is Unrestricted. He made 1.2 M and we could get him on the cheap. Trade Karlsson and Labanc for Draft picks and p/u Neal for 6.5 for 5 years. Jumbo can be had for 4 to 4.5 and then you set yourself up for a chance at someone next season with the cap space. I think we can get Hertl for under 5 with all his injury history. Donskoi is the real delima...
