Description

Montreals first priority is to trade for a LHD capable of playing next to Shea Weber and who can help the powerplay. I see Gostibehere as the top candidate as he also has term on a reasonable cap hit. Outside of this many people want the Habs to make a big splash in free agency but the way I see it they cant afford to spend big money, at least on long term deals. Over the next two off seasons Domi, Gallagher, Tatar, Danault, Kotkaniemi, Poehling and Petry will all need new deals. Some of these players are expendable with young talent coming up but a 10 million contract could force them to get rid of some prospects down the road.

I think Simmonds will be looks for a medium term (3 years) contract as at 30 years old it might be the last oppurtuinty for one. The Gostisbere trade looks pretty good though!

Phily don't need any RHD NHL Ready young player... change it for a A/B+ Prospect Forward like Teasdale, Evans or Ylonen... but Fair enough!
Simmons... 5M... Seriously... I hope not! 3x 3,5M MAX

I can see them giving up a teasdale but I feel like theyre very high on Ylonen and Evans so maybe throw in a 3rd to sweeten the pot. As far as simmonds is concerned montreal would benefit from a 1, 2 year deal max and the more money they can give him to keep the term short the better... its a lot of money for how he performed last year but its also low risk since it wont affect new contracts they might give out
