Description
Note: I counted Matthew's full bonus hit this year, but not Marner, Nylander, etc.. You could save some more money by deferring that bonus cap hit to next year, but I think they should spread out the different kids bonus cap hits.

Would essentially need to somehow get rid of at least 2 of: Bozak, Kadri, Robidas, Lupul, Michalek and/or Bernier's contracts.

Doubt LTIR will be an option. Some of these are un-tradable. So, best bets might be to trade Kadri and Bozak. This would create enough cap room and their replacements are factored into this roster.

He assumed that Matthews hit all his bonuses and the Leafs chose to count it against this year's cap

Matthews will have huge bonuses that can either count against this year or next year. He will get the max bonus structure and therefore this will be his cap hit if they chose to apply it against this year. I am suggesting use Matthews bonus cap hit vs this year and the other kids let carry over.

Juice, you always have my back on here!

On an entry level contract anything above the $925K is performance based, as the $925K already includes the max signing bonus.
Can you apply these performance bonuses to the cap before the player even plays a game?
Say he ends up a bust, and doesn't reach the required goals, assists, points, TOI, etc ... Would the leafs get a cap credit next year?

A performance bonus cushion exists since 2013 which allows teams to exceed the upper limit of the cap with performance bonuses to a maximum of 7.5 percent of the upper limit.

Any performances bonuses in excess of that total do not fall into the cushion and are counted as part of the team's cap payroll.

Any performance bonuses actually earned at season's end (ie. for games played, awards, all-star teams, etc.) are then added to the team's final cap payroll. The catch with the cushion is that if the bonuses earned at year's end push the team past the upper limit, the overage is carried over as a penalty the following season.
