If I was turning the knobs

Description
Sign Brandon Pirri to play on the 3rd line. The 3rd line is a sheltered minutes line, mostly OZone. Put Abdelkader around a little more skill and see what happens (probably nothing, but he's not going anywhere yet). Zadina graduates, and is on the line with AA and Hirose, who will be feeding both of them passes all year long. He's what everyone thought Vanek would do.

Cholo graduates, and plays on the 3rd pairing this year. Some sheltered minutes with Bowey, who played decently after coming over from WSH. Kronwall resigns for 1 year to partner with Hronek for a mentoring session. Plays about 50-ish games, and around the trade deadline Kaski gets called up to split time with him. Ericsson rides the bench for his last year on contract.

Seider stays in GR and learns to play on the smaller ice surface. Maybe heads over to play in the U20s around Christmas. Veleno does the same depending on his output in GR (if he's really flying, no point in sending him to the U20s).

6 priority RFAs to sign for 2020, hopefully, work out some deals with them in season (especially Mantha and AA). Will need to find a few more Dmen for 2020 as well (only 4 under contract for 2020).

Your team is building well. All of this looks good, and with Yzerman at the wheel, we can expect some unforeseen but imaginative moves. I have a question (about Seider): don't you have to be 20 years old to play in the AHL?

To answer your question regarding Seider, that is only with the CHL (WHL, OHL, QMJHL) where you must be 20 or have played 4 years in the CHL. With Seider playing in the DEL, he can come straight to the AHL if they feel that’s best for his development.

Exactly this. Also, DET is affected by the "4 years in the CHL" portion, as Veleno is going to play in GR this year (even though he's 19), but since he had exceptional status and started playing in the CHL at 15, he's eligible for the AHL.
