God those OTT & VGK trades are horrible. Kessel is worth more than that. Other trades seem right.

Gusev is a free agent next year, why would you give up a future 2nd pairing defensive guy for a FA.
He's going to go play in the KHL this season. Then he's free to sign with anyone he wants next year.

I think the ottawa and minnisota deals are the most interesting here. If you just did them and did bjugstad instead of gudbranson it would be good ?

I understand the desire to move out some of the bad contracts to create cap space. But that then poses the question, "What do the Pens do with that cap space?" Anyone that makes a difference gained through free agency is going to be extremely overpaid for the services they provide. All that will be accomplished is that bad contracts will be replaced with bad contracts.
