Team: 2019-20 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 30, 2019
Published: Jun. 30, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. The Bruins are interested in Puljujarvi and Boston is on his list of preferred destinations. Edmonton’s asking price is a third line forward. I’m not willing to move Heinen, but apparently there has been trade interest in Nordstrom, though not specifically from the Oilers as far as I know. Cehlarik is no longer waiver exempt and I have my doubts about whether he sticks on the roster all year or clears waivers otherwise. Nordstrom and Cehlarik both spent time in the Bruins middle six last year and could meet the Oilers’ asking price. I’ll toss in a pick just in case.

2. Rumor has it that the Senators, who are miles from the cap floor, have interest in Backes. The premise is they want veteran leadership but there’s no interest on the free agent market. Backes has a connection with the Tkachuk’s which could convince him to accept the deal. A pick likely has to go as well, but since there’s genuine interest from Ottawa I don’t think it’s high.

3. Bs have offered Acciari a contract. If Nordstrom is traded, I think they’d be willing to increase it slightly to bring him back.

4. Bs reportedly have interest in Brandon Pirri. I like the fit as an affordable goal scoring threat.

5. Sweeney wants there to be some spots open for competition this year. I would feel good entering the year like this knowing that there’s cap room for a rental winger if need be. However a Puljujarvi/Pirri/Kuhlman/Bjork/Steen/Studnicka/Senyshyn/Lauko battle could produce.

1. Neither Nordstrom nor Cehlarik nor both combined would get you Puju.

2. Backes is not waiving his NTC for Sens unless he is guaranteed to be flipped or bought out.

3. Acciari is not going to get extra $ if we make a trade.

4. Pirri might be a look as a 3rd line RW because he’s cheap stopgap. I’d rather play Kuhlmsn, Senyshyn, Steen, Bjork though.

1. Not getting puljujarvi for a few 4th liners
2. Gunna take a hell of a lot more to move backes. Marleau only had 1 year left at 6 million and it took a first to move him.
3. No way in hell Carlo signs for under 4 million, especially on a long term deal.

If backes has to choose between Ottawa and providence, he’ll take Ottawa

I bet he’d retire before Ottawa.

Problem solved. But he is not going to go play for a crappy team for close to league minimum, get heavily taxed, take more toll on his health for no reason.

1m than a buyout in tear 2. Heavily taxed, toll on his body and health, for a team with no chance. I’d retire first. Not like he had fun this year. He can live just fine without it. Goes into FO, coaching , or TV gets paid and no threats of concussions.

Happens. Usually don’t have term left but it does happen. Can’t play forever. His time is up. Just a question of wether or not he can accept it. Most can’t.

53.5m thus far plus endorsements. He’ll be fine. Goes into management, tv, coaching he’ll continue to bring home a decent check. Depends on his desire to play.
