Capitals are entirely too deep in that area for him to advance. Holtby grub Copley samsonov these are all guys he would have had to leap frog

I think the most likely scenario for him is that he ends up as Samsonov's backup once expansion is over. I don't see us keeping Holtby, and I'd choose Vanecek over Copley in a few years.
