I would expect both Dermott and Hyman to be on soir. When you move two players to ad them you should get back another 1.5m in salary.

No way Marner takes that. After the Panarin signing, his dad will only take 11.5 and up. Heck, he even said on the radio show that he’s increasing the asking price to 15 million and the captaincy. If they don’t get it, they leave.

Lol... and who’s going to pay him anything close to that. And I’m just talking about 11.5m.

Well if someone agrees to pay Panarin 12 million, surely someone would be willing to give that money to Marner as well, eh?

Panarin has a much more proven track record than marner’s one stand out season next to Tavares. I think GM’s no this. Panarin is also UFA and was able to drum up a bidding war. So much for Darren “Paul Marner” Dregger’s crack inside information. Looks like no one is biting on marner over 11m. Should have spent more time looking into Aho. Who is a centre fresh off elc who scored more goals and signed a sheet under 9m... Ferris dregger and marner must be chocked....

It’s true about the bidding war, but to me, Panarin and Marner are on the same level when it comes to individual skill. I heard Dreger say on TSN1050 that Boeser of VAN is demanding an 8 year 72 million dollar contract, and WPG’s Laine wants 8 years 120 million. You don’t think Marner should be paid somewhat in between those two?

Might want to check your source on that Laine contract... 15m a year... lmfao.

Let’s not talk about contract demands though. What a player asks for isn’t what he is going to get. How about some signed contracts....

Kucherov starts his 9.5m x 8years this season. And that was after he took a bridge to prove himself.

Aho just signed an 8.454m offersheet for 5 years.

Marner can try to use whoever he wants as a comparable and he can demand whatever he want but it doesn’t mean he’ll get that. Looks like all those Mitch marner offersheets for 13m are a bit late coming in eh? It’s almost like he talked to some teams about his contract demands and they were like “ummm okay good luck with that”. The market will set his value.

Please tell me who you think was the better player at their peak, Evgeni Malkin or Patrick Kane?

Ouch that’s a tough one... hard to compare a centre to a winger and some pens fans are gonna be pissed but I would say Kane. Too very different types of players though.

To me, they are on the same level. Both of them have won the Hart, Lindsey, multiple Art Ross, Conn Smythe, Calder and 3 Stanley Cups. Both of them can deke and dangle their way past an entire team, but the main difference is, Malkin’s career points per game average is 1.18, Kane is 1.05. People say points don’t matter but I think when comparing offensive players, this is important.

I think another thing to look at it what types of points. Goals are worth more than assists and assists are worth more than 2nd assists. I guess in that respect you can give it to Malkin. If I were just going skill based Kane is the best stick handler in the league and doesn’t possess Gino’s size. Gino also had Crosby to take all of the best defenders where Kane was always the target for the match in Chicago. If I had to add one to my team, that’s easy... you always take the Centre.

Kane has better stick handling and agility but Malkin uses his strength, long reach and body balance to help him protect the puck. He is able to more effectively deke and dangle his way past several players, for example the goal against the Lightning in which he went through the whole defense. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9IpdcG8a5Qk Kane is the more creative stick handler, Malkin is more efficient. Also, what makes Malkin stand out is his explosiveness, that burst of acceleration and strength makes him difficult to stop. Keep in mind Malkin was at his best during the time Crosby suffered a season ending concussion.

Ovi, no doubt. He was a beast.

I would say the order of current players would be

Crosby
Mcdavid
Ovi
Kane
Malkin

Honestly, amongst current players, I don’t think Malkin is top 5, he was horrible last season. What was your opinion of Kessel trade?

Well, if it’s at their peaks, then it seems fair enough. Which Stanley Cup winning team would you say was better, the 2019 Blues or 2016 Penguins?
