Description

Ehlers adds plenty of scoring touch in the top 6 to play on Barzal's wing with Eberle. Lee has produced in the past playing with both Bailey and Nelson. Brassard adds some center depth, experience, and offensive potential playing in between Dal Colle and Ho-Sang, who have played very well together in the AHL. Johansson and Boyle are other short term and affordable 3C options. Hickey can serve as a mentor playing on Dobson's left side. Boychuk is ready to play as depth on the right side, with Aho just a call away in Bridgeport for depth on the left side.

Brassard is horrible.
I'd rather Brian Boyle, the guy at least is a monster penalty killer.

Leddy for Ehlers is enough. Beauvillier has scored 39 goals in his first 2 full seasons, while Ehlers scored 40 in his first 2.
Add a 2nd round draft pick if it makes you happy or even Ho-Sang.

Boychuk Mentors Dobson. Hickey was horrible last year.
Boychuk was missed against Carolina.
Aho comes up.
Hickey goes for pick(s) to save cap space.

I'd rather not give Johansson 5 years - he turns 29 in October. Isles already have lee, Bailey, and Eberle on contracts that take them to their mid 30's. Ehlers/gusev/zucker should be the targets

Because UFA almost always get more term and AAV than they are worth because teams are desperate. He’ll get 5 x 4.5 mill

We don't need anymore bottom 6 guys on big contracts, when we have plenty of YOUNG, CHEAP talent ready to crack the lineup AND we already have a 3C in the organization (Cizikas) we shift up a line and have Fritz or even Koivula (who I know is probably 1 more year away) take over the 4C spot.

As for the trade, I agree, Leddy and a pick should be enough to get Ehlers... if they insist on a prospect as well, Ho-Sang or Bellows over Beau every day of the week.
