This seem to be a definition of delusional Leafs fan post. No way in heck is Marner or Gardiner taking those deals.

Too many people listen to James Tanner. Gardiner is a good player but he's not half as good as Muzzin, if the Leafs keep anyone on the blue line it would be Muzzin. Hopefully this whole insane public perception thing that drives some peoples value through the roof and others through the floor stays happening until Muzzin signs for a 4 years at 5.5 million or something.

Gardiner's time with the Leafs is over, he is leaving his prime and isn't good enough now, he won't be getting better as he ages and loses steps with his bad back. People need to stop being so nostalgic and overly loyal to depth players. Gardiner isn't a star, so just let him go.

You can get a real good 3rd pair guy for half that cost. The middle class of NHLers are all going to have to take major paycuts in the near future. The days of guys like Lucic and Tyler Myers getting big contracts in their late 20's is over. They aren't worth the money and people are finally starting to understand that. So bye Gardiner, its been fun but lets let Montreal pay you too much money for you to become a bad contract in 2-3 years.
