As amazing as Gio is I can't fathom any trade for a 35 year old dman like him being done. He's a Flame lifer.

Do you think a team like Pittsburgh would jump at him considering how old they are?

I mean i can't make sense of anything Rutherford does so maybe but he shouldn't considering they have a pretty bare prospect pool.

As good as he is if the Habs gave up that much for a 35 year old I'd be livid.

From an Habs fan : I would say Julsenn is NHL ready and has the potential to be a solid #4. (didn't play this years because injury)
Brook is a B+ Prospect I would think

yeah but he's so old. Why would I give up prime future assets for 1-3 years?

Well how many more years are Price and Webber going to be worth their salt and give the Habs a chance? Adding the Norris trophy winner, Gio may be just what they need to get over the hump while they still have a chance.

Actually the proposal is probably an underpay, especially if you assume they will be late 1st rounders. I think the Flames would need a blue chipper prospect or top3 winger plus the picks. Gio is not only a 1D, he's the BEST 1D in the league, 35 years old or not. He continually comes in to camp as one of, if not the fittest player on the team and provides exceptional leadership. There is almost no scenario where the Flames trade him, since they are currently also in their window, but if they do it will only be for proven current assets and multiple high picks or prospects.

My reasons to trade him are Oliver Kylington, the expansion draft and potentially getting a big-ticket free agent next year with the cap space
