Voila Cap Space

Created by: mailbackwardz

Description
Cap space without buyouts boys...

Anaheim has like 1 NHL caliber RH defenseman. Rangers shave cap and Anaheim fills a roster spot and recoups some assets for giving up a fraction of all the cap space they have. Only niche is if Anaheim is on Shatty’s NTC...

Colombus has all the cap space and a meh forward group. They add Strome for cheap because they have leverage on Rangers because of cap issues. They bolster there middle six and the Rangers become cap compliant. I picked Vlad to stay because of his defensive prowess and the fact that he is a UFA next season. Strome would have to be resigned whereas they can let Vlad walk and allocate the money elsewhere. Suddenly, the Rangers now have a bunch of cap space next season. Magic!

Pretty sure Shattenkirk won't want to leave NY.

I don’t think so. Again they don’t have enough defenseman, they have a ton of cap space, and they’re rebuilding they’ll want the assets. And taking Eaves back even minimizes the cap gain this year.

He has no choice, unless the team is on his 10 team NTC. And even if ANA is, if they threaten a buyout I’m pretty sure he’ll wave...

Shattenkirk has a 10 team NTC, Staal has a full NMC. Big difference...

True. But if probably doesn’t get to that point with Shatty. Staal that would be the start of negotiations...

How many times to I have to tell you Staal has an NMC. There’s no team you can trade him to unless he waives. Shatty has 21 teams that we can trade him to and he has no say in it. So yes the first step to trade Staal is to ask him to waive whereas there’s plenty of teams to make a deal with that you don’t need Shatty’s consent for. We’re beating a dead horse here...

the issue is you treating the players as equal...Shatty is a good hockey player, Staal is not. You should be going out of your way to try and get Staal off the team. Threatening buyouts and stuff.
