I just don't see the Leaf trading seven years of Marner (by this post) for three years of Jones.

Don't get me wrong, I love love Seth Jones. I just happen to agree with @palhal that as far as control, I don't think the Leafs would be so inclined to make this deal. If the Jackets were to make a deal with the Leafs, I would think something more along the lines of Zach Werenski and Josh Anderson for Mitch Marner. In the case of both Blue Jackets, Leafs could potentially get both locked up long term as of the moment they acquired him (Anderson would be of course an extension where Werenski stills needs a deal for the start of this season). Just as a side note, our left side would be Rielly, Werenski and Muzzin....damn!

I guess the question is: how much does the 6.1mil in cap space make up for the 4 years of team control... Obviously they would have the potential to resign Jones as well
