That's a serious offer sheet for Jones, I know he's good and he's going to be great but that would be the highest paid Defenseman in the game, is he worth it plus 4 1st's?

To the Bruins - yes. It's basically their only way right now to secure a potential franchise dman. They will have picked 5 1st rounders in the past 2 years after tonight. They're a team stuck in mediocrity right now and won't get a player with the upside of Jones picking in the mid teens the next 4 years. If they offer lower money - then I think Columbus matches.

Jarmo came out and said yesterday he will match any offer made for Seth Jones. so even for 9.3 Columbus matches

Offer sheets are not viewed very well with other GMs in the league. Tough for a GM with one year experience to establish good connections with the old guard by doing moves like that. Bad move

Would that really matter? Right now Sweeney isn't highly respected anyways...

IT definitely would be a bad news move...projecting his own cap crap onto the CBJ.
While Jarmo indicated he would match any offer, if a $9.3M sheet came through the door, I believe he would take the (4) 1st rounders and move on. He could then turn the picks around in trades to strengthen the blue line. Jones is solid now and still has huge upside, but I think he is suffering from Johanssen-type syndrome, wanting to test the market (and potentially not play for Columbus). Jones won't be arbitration eligible for another year, and probably just wants to see who the highest bidder will be. IMO, he is nowhere near a cornerstone #1 D level to warrant that kind of money on his 2nd pro contract.
