Paying this much for TJ and his contract at this point is crazy. He’s going to be in Seattle in 2 years one way or another

Sharks are in need of a top six RW.

Trading Merkley is a bad idea.

It's not ideal for sure. With Karlsson, Burns already on the roster and Knyazev on the way we are pretty stocked with offensive defensemen. Merkley is developing quite nicely though.

He has higher upside than Knyazev though if I'm not mistaken. I just think the Sharks will bank on prospects this year instead of a UFA. They'll keep the extra they do have to sign Labanc next season.

It is my hope that at the least Chmelevski and Chekhovich get a shot before any signing or trade is made.

@Frank_Booth Couldn’t agree more. Give the kids a shot thru October/November and then figure out where we are. Dougie has a history of shopping the trade market early

Ivan should at least be given every chance to make the team. He has added 10 pounds of muscle since last summer aiming to make the Sharks this year. He looked awesome at dev camp. He has the talent, one year on Jumbo's wing and I think he'll be ready for top six minutes next year.
