Backstrom extension should be no problem whatsoever, but unless GMBM can convince Holtby to take less money and less term than what he'd fetch on the open market, there's little hope of resigning him. At Holtby's current age, 5 years is the most I'd give him as goalies nearly always start to fall off past 32-33 (with the exception of guys like Brodeur, Roy, and Luongo), but the cap hit would definitely have to be higher than what the Caps could reasonably offer to get him to take the shorter term.

Bright side: Copley is at least a replacement level goalie (probably better than that behind a good defense) and the odds of either Vanecek or Samsonov being at least a low end starter are decent, plus the money they save by letting him go would allow for a UFA signing and room for Ovi and Vrana extensions.
