Description
Possible future outlook after my roster proposed for the current year - Cup Number Six: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1336313

Continuing on from that roster's trades and signings in order of priority:

1) Murray: I think we can lock our goaltender up at $6 mil over 5 years until he's 30. Fair enough deal, he would want to stay, and while he has two cups under his belt, he has had his struggles.

2/3) Galchenyuk: I think the priority on Galchenyuk depends on how well he plays as compared to who you prioritize signing between him and McCann first, but I think there's room for both. My proposed roster has him playing 3LW with Gusev getting that slot on Malkin's LW hence he will get a good chance to produce, but won't get boosted to an insane pay day by playing a full season with Geno or Sid. $5.5 mil over 4 years sounds fair.

2/3) McCann: Depending on how well he plays would really depend on how much he gets paid. I gave him $3.5 mil over 4 years. Being an RFA I think this would be doable as his success would come *from* Sid and Guentzel, whereas Guentzel proved his worth on his own and as a prime goal scorer that clicks insanely well with Sid hence his larger pay day this last year.

4) Second pair right defense-man. I don't think re-signing Schultz would honestly be a good move given he can command a higher cap hit, and while he has had success here, we focus more on his renaissance than how well he's actually done. In 2017, there would've been no cup without him, but aside from that he wasn't be *stellar*. Whether we would be able to land Faulk in free agency is one thing, but this shows we can offer a sizable contract to a 2RHD, giving Faulk $5.75 mil over 4 years in this instance.

5) Kahun is similar to the priority of re-signing ZAR this year to me imo, skilled forward, but needs to earn his worth, which we could have him be worth less playing fourth-line minutes while getting chances to move up and down the lineup when needed. Ultimately, he's an RFA and I think we could get him around a little more than ZAR at like $1.6 mil over 2 years.

6) POJ comes up to play 3LHD and re-sign RFAs for depth. Don't really care what happens to Riikola, but his season might change my mind.

Either way, this roster shows that my first roster, Cup Number Six (link above), puts us in a good position to give out raises next year and keep the team mostly in-tact while not crippling ourselves with the cap.

Isn't Faulk generally considered to be better than Schultz... So why would he take less than Schultz would, as long as we can keep the Schultz deal under 6mil and AT MOST 5 years I'd be fine with it, especially with the Tyler Myers signing ??? that contract wouldn't be bad, Kahun scored 40 points last year... He's not a 4th liner AND he's not going to get paid like one, minimum 2+mil, and at least top 9 mins, and he's probably going to get at least 50+ bc last year was his first year on NA ice and almost every player has to have an adjustment time, and now he's going to Pittsburgh which has an extremely offense first scheme, I could see him getting a very similar deal to McCann and POJ won't be ready, same with Addison (though Addison has a bit more of a chance, but he'll probably need some AHL time, he might get a few call ups though) Tanev probably won't be in the top 6, just swap him and Kahun, Adam Johnson (and possibly that Oula Palve)>Blandisi and the 23 man is over the cap

Yeah I mean this roster is basically just to show we would be fine under the cap moving forward given the proposed first roster. Like I said, whether it's Schultz or Faulk or whoever we can still spend a sizable bit there. Kahun, yes, I agree he's going to get time with Sid and Geno, but I'm judging this off how Sully likes to run his lines and how you should balance lines in general. Kahun deserves a shot at those minutes no doubt, but Sully likes playing pairs together and rotating the wings elsewhere, so say Sid-Guentzel obviously, then it would go down the line: Malkin-Gusev, Bjugstad-Hornqvist, and Blueger-ZAR probably with the other wings moving around. Moreover, having a grinder and a shooter per line, while players don't get restricted to these roles alone obviously, it's good to try and balance it that way.

McCann (passer) - Sid (grinder - best in hockey) - Guenztel (shooter)
Gusev (passer) - Malkin (shooter) - Tanev (grinder)
Chucky (shooter) - Bjugstad (passer) - Hornqvist (grinder)
ZAR (grinder) - Blueger (passer) - Kahun (shotoer)

Generally speaking of course, but this lets us run four effective lines every game instead of being top-weighted or having our bottom lines suck, we despeartely need depth scoring, which is where putting a skilled player like Kahun on the fourth line would come in while Tanev can win those puck battles Malkin and Gusev might be too lazy to go after.
