Description
Atlantic: One of the better divisions in the NHL, I see 5 teams making it from the Atlantic and I don't see this order being drastically different at any point during the season. Boston could take the 2nd spot again, and Florida could jump into the WC1 spot, but I don't see either of the WC teams making it into the top 3. Tampa captures another President's Trophy, and then runs into Bobrovsky again in the 1st round.
1. Tampa Bay 110 Pts
2. Toronto 104 Pts
3. Boston 102 Pts
4. Montreal (WC) 99 Pts
5. Florida (WC) 96 Pts
6. Buffalo 82 Pts
7. Detroit 74 Pts
8. Ottawa 68 Pts

Metro: I can see the Penguins being the odd team out here and dropping out of the top 3 in favor of NYI or possibly the Flyers if some of their guys have bounce back years and they get stable goaltending from Hart. Whoever doesn't finish in the top 3 in the metro I see losing out on the WC spots to the teams in a much stronger Atlantic division. This is the weakest division in the league in my opinion.
1. Washington 101 Pts
2. Carolina 97 Pts
3. Pittsburgh 94 Pts
4. Islanders 89 Pts
5. Flyers 88 Pts
6. Rangers 85 Pts
7. Blue Jackets 83 Pts
8. Devils 80 Pts

Central: A bloodbath of a division, I see 5 teams getting in from the Central since after the top 3 in the Pacific, I don't think any of those teams are very strong. This order could really go anybody's way, as I could make a case for any of the 5 playoff teams here winning the division. I think the Wild are going to struggle inside their division and I hate counting Chicago out, but other teams just look stronger at this moment.
1. Dallas 104 Pts
2. Nashville 103 Pts
3. Colorado 101 Pts
4. St. Louis 99 Pts (WC)
5. Winnipeg 97 Pts (WC)
6. Chicago 85 Pts
7. Minnesota 76 Pts

Pacific: A top heavy division, I think Vegas breezes to the top spot and wins the west, while San Jose comfortably gets in. Calgary takes a step back from what they did last season, but still gets in by a decent margin. Arizona is the only team that I think even comes close to a WC spot, but the Central just has too many good teams for me to make a case for a WC spot to go to a Pacific team.
1. Vegas 106 Pts
2. San Jose 100 Pts
3. Calgary 95 Pts
4. Arizona 88 Pts
5. Vancouver 84 Pts
6. Edmonton 83 Pts
7. Anaheim 74 Pts
8. LA 65 Pts

Metro is the weakest division? 3/4 last cup winners and the division has Crosby malkin Ovechkin? No to mention the just got the #1 and -#2 overall pick. Just added Subban. I think the metro is absolutely the strongest division when you talk about the penguins not making the playoffs. Also Tampa bay got swept by the worse metro team last year. Just saying the metro has more better teams where the other have 3 good teams and 3 terrible teams.

What does winning the cup 2/3/4 seasons ago have to do with how strong a division is this year? Every division has their superstar players and those draft picks are not likely to be making any drastic differences for at least a year. Columbus also loaded up at the deadline last year and lost their top goalie, skater, and then Duchene and Dzingel.

The circle is complete. Detroit has finally faded out of memory, the name “Red Wings” having lost all meaning. What’s a Datsyuk?

Bc those team that win 2-3 years ago still have their core. Oh yeah that core consists of some on the nhl best players. Washington got better since last season....Pittsburgh has Crosby and malkin still making them a contender njd just drafted an elite player and added pk. Taylor hall is also healthy going in. Ranger also added an elite player and trouba. And the bread man. Carolina is deeper than last year. Please tell me how this division isn’t the most deep from 1-8? I’ll wait. Atlantic bc they have 3 good teams and 5 awful teams? Come on buddy. The metro is so good that you said you could see the penguins being the odd team out.

Tampa got worse since last year. Toronto is slightly better and Boston is the same.

Every metro team minus the blue jackets got better or stayed about the same.....

Pens traded away their 2nd leading scorer, Malkin's not getting any younger and they had no notable signing this offseason. I see them in the playoffs just because Crosby can carry them in, but no longer see them as a threat to do anything when they get there. NJD drafted an elite prospect, not player. You can ask around and most people are gonna say Hughes needs at least a year to reach his potential. And I don't think there is a more overrated move this offseason than the Subban trade. He's good, but he's had issues playing a full season 3 of the last 4 years, and I don't see how he makes a mediocre Devils team a playoff contender. And they're goaltending situation is a mess. Again, the Rangers added an elite prospect, although I think he will make a bigger impact than Hughes this year. I also like the two signings for them, even though I think it will lead to cap issues down the road. They also have an aging goaltender whose coming off his worst save % in his career and depth that I don't completely trust. I like Carolina, although their goaltending scares me, that's why I have them finishing second. And the Atlantic has 1 fantastic team, 2 great teams, 2 really good teams, 1 meh team, and 2 bad teams. Don't know how you can think Florida and Montreal are awful. The Pens could be the odd team out because this isn't the same team that won back to back cups a couple of years ago and I think they could really start to drop starting this year, although Crosby is always lurking.

Tampa got worse coming off a 128 point season, but they still have the most talented roster in the league. So they are now what? A 115 point team? Boston is the same, and they just went to the finals, so I think they'll be fine with the roster they have.
