Why would Gudas be the guy to get rid of, and why would you waive him instead of trying to trade him?

worse case scenario and gudas isnt part of the future in Washington and easier to replace a 3rd pairing dman than anyone else on the roster.....gudas could fetch a 3rd maybe .........who knows but if that seems unachievable waivers

lmfao it would be a disaster to let gudas go so two younger and better players could play in his spot? solid take ......both djoo and sieg are more than capable of playing 3rd pairing minutes..... don't be a drama queen. gudas is solid but hes not a part of the future ....he also plays undisciplined hockey....

I like Gudas ( even if its only one season) as a vet on the 3rd pair to help the younger guy he's paired with whether its 29 or 34. Agreed he's not part of the future but relying on Djoos and Siegs as a pair makes me nervous. Neither grabbed the last spot last year. Playoffs we didn't have enough bite. Gudas helps with that even if just for one year.

I disagree. Sieg is extremely physical and neither got an opportunity to get ice bc of orpik. Djoo also had major surgery and missed time. And sieg played very well in Kempny absence in the playoffs. Djoo is kinda old ish and he’s a good puck moving dman and sieg is a great stay at home guy. They could be alzner Carlson 2.0. Caps lost bc we lost arguably our best defensive dman. That and Oshie got hurt. I’m confident if we need cap space those 2 could fill in without any issues

Kempny and Oshie missing was definitely a major absence for sure. It will be interesting to see which move is made to get under the Cap limit.
