As much as I've chirped Gardiner, I'd happily welcome him to the blueline! For me, a 1 year deal would be the only way though.. unless we cleared enough cap to ensure extending Murray/Schultz and Gally

Why does ANA do that, I somewhat agree that Guddy doesn't have much if any negative value, and even some positive value, but not a third round pick, and moving eaves who has 0 value, and isn't owed a ton of money doesn't make ANA more willing to do that

I feel like Gardiner would be signed to replace Schultz after this season. I find it inevitable that he will want too much and price himself out of Pittsburgh.

That’s true...the reason I attached the third was that I thought ANA would add value for PIT to take Eaves. But Gudbranson for Eaves and a late round pick makes a lot more sense.

That's what everyone says, but I hope its not true. I'd rather Schultz extension than Gardiner for more than 1 year tbh, tough call though either way. Both similar players. I'd prefer Schultz for familiarity and also he's a righty which is nice. He's probably loving Trouba at 8M AAV though...

It’s a difficult situation because he isn’t even worth what he makes now...dude had a 51 point season in a contract year and played a huge role with Letang shut down in ‘17 and cashed out on it.

I agree, hoping he'll take a discount or end up like Gardiner.. unsigned in FA so long he comes back cheaper tears of joy

This is a pipe dream but I feel like if you get him to agree to an extension between $3.75M and $4M it’s a steal.
