I said previously.. Marner is great player and is gonna be great player for huge chunk of his career, but he is not as good as all of those contract assumptions make him to be.

Nylander is a 60-80 points guy, thats how good he is..

He is point per game guy in his prime. I mentioned it somewhere above.. So is Nylander but Marner would have slightly higher point totals by the end of his career than Nylander.

marner put up 69 points 2 years ago... with trash linemates... and this is when he was 20, hes way better than he was 2 years ago

Kadri had 30+ goal season with Brown and Komarov the year before that. And same goals season with Marner. Kadri is great centerman and definitely at minimum an above average 2C in NHL. Yup.. slightly above average. Marner is not as great as you think. I think he is great player but not as great as you suggest and want him to be.

it is no shock Kadri put up career goal totals with Marner as his linemate... then the next year JT puts up 9 more goals than his career high, the minute he starts playing with Marner..

Lets not forget a hugeeee part of JT coming to Toronto was that he was playing with Marner, if JT knows how special the kid is, so should a fan boy

its not the $ value its the tactics that people don't like, hi agent is threatening offer sheets or playing in Europe rather than keeping things out of the media. Matthews didn't just walk into dubas' office and say give me this, I'm sure it was a long process with lots of conversation and transparent negotiation from both sides. Paul Marner doesn't help things either if the rumours are true about him saying mitch deserves this and that. paul and mitch's agent aren't going to get far by trying to embarrass Dubas and Shanny, its just going to create tensions.

the problem with marner is he wants to be the highest paid winger in the nhl which he shouldnt be. he is a great player but not worth what matthews is getting for many reasone, not a center not a goal scorer and marner plays with tavares, so they both got slightly inflated numbers playing together.

Well panarin will be the highest winger regardless, even if marner gets what he wants..
