This reminds me of the Phaneuf trade to OTT. Didn't work out too well. All those guys have 1 year left rather keep them till then instead of going after Ryan.

The Phaneuf trade worked out fine for Ottawa. Dion was a big part of the Sens ECF run, and he got moved for a guy who ended up on LTIR, so it doesn't really hurt the team. Even giving up the 2nd didn't end up hurting because the guy the Leafs got looks like a bum.
