Trade with Colorado at TDL or so

Created by: KCarry74
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 6, 2019
Published: Aug. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't know that much the quality of these prospect so help me out, but i think it's the kind of trade that would help both !
Trades
MTL
  1. Meloche, Nicolas
  2. 2020 1st round pick (COL)
  3. 2020 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
I heard Meloche could be able to play LD. He would become our top pairing LD after Romanov and Mete in the near future. He's a big guy who can drop the glove and deliver big hits. I think it's a good chance to take from our side. 1st is lotto protected.
COL
  1. Tatar, Tomas ($800,000 retained)
  2. 2020 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Tatar would be a good fit in Colorado. 4M to play on their 2nd line would add a good depth for them.

Tatar was trade for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick when is production was meh. Comes out of a 58 points season, only 4M$ and contract expire in 2021. 1st round pick will likely be 20-31 and i'd say probably 25-30 this year, Meloche is a 3rd pairing prospect.. i don't think it's that much

And that was a bad deal when it happened.

I'd much rather have Joe veleno than tatar

It would have to depend on what burakovsky and donskoi maybe jost and compher do this year. If they are having success on the second line with kadri than it's very silly to give that up to pick up tatar for the 3rd line. I could probably see them going after a player with more grit for a playoff run

That was also one of the worst trades in recent memory

that's true. I figured it would make sense since Avs have plenty of defense prospect. Meloche doesn't seem to be in their plan and Tatar addition would surely make them better. Maybe the full trade isn't perfect yet, thats why i asked for your help in the bio smile It could also become somethink like Tatar vs Meloche + 2nd + 5th pick or so, but I highly doubt that Mtl would trade Tatar for something less than a first.

I dont think the trades the problem. Meloche is the 3rd best d prospect we have behind makar and timmins, in all reality he wont wear an avs Jersey unless they get nailed with a bunch of injuries, and the picks are going to be later picks if everything goes to plan.
The problem I think with the trade is not having room for tatar in the top 6, unless sakics plan for the 2nd line completely fails which I can only hope it doesnt

This time around I'm thinking that tatar fetches more of a dzingel type value. 2 2nd's

that is exactly why i targeted him instead of any other prospect. IMO, Donskoi is more of a top 9 type of player, never cracked the 40 points range yet. i was thinking something like :

Landy - Mck - Rantanen
Jost - Kadri - Tatar (still think Jost could explode)
Donskoi - Compher - Bura
xx - xx - xx

i think this way you're much better than with bura on the second and Wilson on the third but that's only my opinion

I feel like jost could break out soon, but he may be more suited to a bottom 6 centre, burkovsky has all the tools to be a top 6 scorer but was buried in the caps lineup, same with donskoi in San Jose. Compher will get a shot at 2nd line rw, but they also have options with kaut and kamenev.. Wilson is a checker now, I've seen nothing about him that I like in the last few years.
I would much rather pay more to MTL and bring in Gallagher as a legit top 6 scorer

Thanks for your opinion, i appreciate it! I don't think MTL is interested in moving gally to be honest. But with Caufield and Suzuki coming in pipeline, who knows !
