I would if his trade value wasnt so high

The reality is that either Nylander or Marner could play with JT and put up similar points. The question the Leafs have to ask themselves is whether they want to pay 7M or 10+M for that production.

It's not a good deal for Toronto. You said they don't need stars but defensive depth. I pointed to the most recent example of a team thinking exactly that.

I get what ur trying to say,, but this is not even close like the oilers trades,

leafs get a solid forward, that is growing

and 2 solid dmen

your a dumbass, nylander could not put up 90-100 points with JT or he would have put up 70+ with matthews already

lol to be fair nylander is only 1 year older. but marner is on another level nylander i think struggled last year and might struggle again this year since they are trying to get 3 full lines of solid production.

I don’t think this is worth it for Columbus, Bjorkstrand is projected to have a breakout year with increased ice time and more power play time, Savard is our best defensive defenseman, as for Kukan, I don’t see a spot on this team for him outside of the 6th/7th d. Because he’s not better then Murray, Jones, Savard, Nuttivaara, Or Werenski. That leave Kukan and Harrington for the 6th spot in the line up.

The only reason to get Nylander is to play him with Wennberg to see if they can play like they did at the world championships together, and Ceci is just awful, don’t want him especially for 4.5 mil.

It is the principle you're suggesting, not your trade...which is a non starter for the Leafs.

The Tavares effect (points):

Moulson with - 69, without - 41
Parenteau 69......41
Okposo 69........45
Lee 62.......51
Bailey 71.......56
Marner 94.....69

Tavares makes those around him better at a level greater than most players in the league.

And it's you're, not your.

Marner also gave JT a career high in goals, not by a few but 9 more goals than JT previous career high....

Marner is not like those other above average players, hes elite, and he proved that playign with the bozaks of the world and still producing 60+ points in his first 2 seasons
