Description
Making room to sign McAvoy or at least bridge, and fair return? EJ gives Boston a solid right D and waives the NTC to play with Backes who I believe is an old buddy from what I can recall, and can replace Chara in effect once he hangs up his skates. The first would be expected to be a late one. Lose a RFA they probably can't sign and a UFA next season. No I haven't bothered with Boston's lines, only roster numbers. Spare slots are for McAvoy and the two on IR once they return. Yes the trade probably favours the Avs, but Boston are somewhat behind the eight ball.

Currently an upgrade? Are you high?

Yes, currently an upgrade. Long term I realise he wouldn't be, but Boston are competing now with their core at a similar age. So no I'm not high, that comes later in the day!

There were a lot of nights in the playoffs where Carlo was the bruins best player. On a bad night he’s better than Johnson

All depends on the size of McAvoy's contract, but the offer is obviously not of the correct value from opinions on here. I based it on a lot of people saying McAvoy would probably get up to the 7 mil mark, and at 5 mil (comparable to Girard money) it would be a struggle to sign both unless they move someone (which is why I chose Coyle), looking at the roster on here, but my bad it's obviously not good enough.

It doesn’t depend on anything. There is no scenario where this makes sense

Certainly an exaggeration on the last part, but yes he was good in the playoffs.

I think Crosby was a better first overall pick than Nail Yakupov too. I guess it's all a matter of opinion, right? Some things are pretty cut and dry.

We're already trying to move Backes. Miller and Moore are also 100% free when they will be activated from IR/LTIR. Interested?

Yeah I get it, you don't like it. Fair enough, no need to keep wittering on. Your comparison is BS btw.

Trying is the point. Gotta find a taker. Likewise with Miller & Moore. 35 yr old C/W, 31 year old D, in a league that's getting younger all the time, and Moore would be of little interest as a left hander with the amount the Avs already have. The Avs are actually one of the few teams who could afford to take on Backes, but I'm guessing it would require at least some retention and/or something juicy coming with him to interest the Avs.

It's all been real talk, pretty much the point of this site. I get that you and the others posting on this don't agree on the value and it's a steal for the Avs, and that's fine. I take the feedback, unless people are jerks about it (not referring to you btw). Why do you think Backes wouldn't have Colorado on his list?

idk simple feeling

also, despite being professional he has an history with that idiot of Kadri and I wouldn't wish any player to have him on his team in playoffs lol

Otherwise, we can send a 2nd, 3rd, a prospect and maybe depth guy if needed, in exchange of a pick or so for taking backes

Yeah I wasn't overly happy with the Barrie-Kadri trade, I felt they could have got better value in there, but I guess we have to see how it plays out. Wasn't aware of there being a big 'history' between them. That said, it depends how personal it was. Only bit I know was a couple of scraps and Backes not liking the bad cross check. Lot of guys who appear to hate each other on ice have ended up playing together though. Worst for me was the Avs signing Brad May after the Bertuzzi/Moore incident. Hated that. Not playing together of course as Moore never came back, but a lot of guys still on the team from then. Only thing worse would have been them signing Bertuzzi or Cooke.

Depending on the prospect the Avs might take that offer.

Let’s all just agree that this idea is really really really bad and quit giving it attention
