What's up with Habs fans and wanting to ship off Petry? I think he's a solid D.

Not a lot of faith in the Habs this year?

MTL might be contender in 3 to 5 years. Petry's contract ends in 2 years. In summer 2021, MTL will have Tatar, Danault, Gallagher, Lehko, Armia, KK, Poehling plus Petry without contract. If RD like Juulsen, Fleury or Brooks show good progress, Petry might not be resigned due to cap issues. It's why Tatar is also in a lot of Armchair's trade

Tampa, Boston, Toronto, Florida are all better and then throw in the entire Metro division minus CBJ

It's simple: Brook, Fleury and Juulsen will soon be NHLready. But you're right : He's solid. I think MTL should trade him next summer instead. Also, I don't think this trade would happen because RD is not a FLO need. MTL will eventually find a team with a weakness at the RD and I would be disappointed if MTL doesn't get a 1st pick.

Fair point.

Everyone loves Petry in Montreal. He's showing skilled highlights (That puck batted in the air looked too easy for him) and is a great presence in the team. He's a great skating defenseman, watch carefully clips when he pitch to create an odd man rush and check his first 3 strides how powerfull and smooth they are. He'll be 33 for his next contract talks and I don't think that we should keep two aging dmans when so much is coming in that pool.

I think if it happens it's this year TDL, that's when you'll get full value because the other team would have him for two playoff run.

Do you think Brook is ready for top 4?

I mean, right now obviously no but after 60 games in th AHL who knows? I'd personally stick with Juulsen on the 2nd line (If healthy he'll surprise a lot of people) and put Brooks on the third to start his career. Sure thing Juulsen isn't as good now that Petry is but if we're already out of playoff race (Or Juulsen is playing a career year proving that he's ready) who cares? Play the young guys and let's roll the dice. You may be weaker for the reminder of the season on the right side but you get more chips for trade talks, draft two top prospects or even for moving up in the draft and get the guy you'd really want.
