MTL declines the NJD trade on the grounds we're giving up two better players for a 4th pick return

i like the CGY trade though it works for both teams pretty evenly .

if we're trading Tatar and Mete i want a Girard or Sanheim in return if we're just getting a 4th in return .

adding a 3rd line Center weaker then our 18 year old 3rd line Center was last year doesnt make sense for MTL
Adding Frolik to Kotkanemi's line however makes complete sense
right now if they're not Quality Prospect Suzuki , Poehling or Kotkanemi level then we dont need them we got to many forwards as is .

give me Sanheim , Ratcliffe and a 2nd for Tatar , Mete and a 5th
this makes MTL better today with Sanheim
tomorrow with Ratcliffe/Suzuki connection re-sparked and a 2nd in which we've had success drafting the last 3 years

PHI gets a 21 year old fast skating LD prospect to develop behind Provorov and Ghost
Tatar to walk into their top 6 adding 20+ goals to PHI offensive output
and a late pick to gamble with
Mang liked this.

MTL wouldn't even have the chance to decline because NDJ declines first.

Philly aren't moving Sanheim, he was arguably their best Dman last season.

I wouldn't say MTL are giving up the two best players. Butcher is an upgrade on Mete. Even though Mete is still young, Butcher brings immediate help and he's still pretty young at 24 years old.

Zacha can play the wing, he doesn't have to be at center. He needs a change of scenery and I doubt Tatar puts up those numbers again.

At the end of the day, you may not like this trade and it's just for fun but the value is just about even. You could switch the 4th to a 3rd maybe but idk.

It seems like I have fans of both teams that want to decline the trade. Which makes it a good value trade. Thanks mate!

Or you have a poor sense of value.
Either way Valimaki just tore his ACL in training camp Kylington isnt going anywhere until Vali heals now

lmao Kylington has been stuck behind Calgary's depth. You are clearly over-valuing him atm. The trade also isn't Lehkonen for Kylington straight up. Value is pretty damn fair.

even if you dont like Lehkonen the picks are over kill for Kylington
Frolik's a cap dump gives CGY the cap to lock up Tkchuck longterm

Lehkonen is more then enough for Frolik's final year in a deal to dump his cap so CGY can lock up their Superstar hold out .
it also gives them a player 7 years younger coming off a career high year .

MTL is the only ones who should be concerned as our only motivation is a LD prospect who battle with Romanov for a top 6 spot after this season .
i mean i still like it its just a lot to give up for a #4-5 D and a 31 year old we wont re-sign
that being said our log jam on wing is damaging prospects development at this point so we gotta move someone and Lehkonen has the most value on that short list we'd part with.

not really

close on the CGY to the point if it happened in real life i would not be surprised at all

the NJD trade though , Butcher is coming off a down year from 44 points to 30 being surpassed as team leader by Severson
Butcher who's going to be 25 when the season starts just isnt the guy for MTL because he's UFA in 3 years just in time for MTL to have a real team put together .
Mete's here long term ,we own his rights and its one of many reasons the 21 year old is preferred including Cap reasons longterm in which MTL is 2 seasons from entering cap hell where they'll really feel the weight of the Weber and Price deals .

the trade makes sense for this year but after that it puts MTL in a ****ty place to re-sign all their core players who need contracts outside Weber,Price and Drouin are the only players locked up.With our prospects depth growing constantly from the picks we acquired moving out veteran UFA's like Plekanec , Pacioretty ,along with Eller,Shaw and Galchenyuk moves leave MTL stronger.
we gpt no issues moving out a Tatar , Petry , heck even a Byron if the price is right to keep Danault , Gallagher , Domi,Kotkanemi,Poehling ,Mete,Juulsen who are all in need of contracts in the next 2 years along with Lehkonen ,Lindgren and Armia .

we cant afford to give Mete away

It's a good point. I'm just not that high on Mete and I think it would be a good idea to take on Butcher instead. Agree to disagree. I like what MTL is doing and I think their prospects are going to light it up pretty soon.
