Chemistry and Balance 2019 Nucks

Created by: Tmclean64
Team: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 14, 2019
Published: Aug. 14, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Brock Contract: I think this makes the most sense for both parties. 7×4. Mid Term Bridge contract that keeps him an RFA at the end and allows him to get paid while betting on himself to earn another big deal afterwards.

Fwd Line 1: Petey and Brock, enough said. Ferland adds a physical element to the line creating space for those two to do their thing. Hes no slouch either and can make plays or put the puck in the net. Hes proved that in Calgary and Carolina playing on the top lines while protecting their star players.

Fwd Line 2: The secondary scoring line. Pearson 9 goals in 19 Games with Horvat last year. Horvat needs two linemates he can depend on and develop some chemistry with long term. I think the Miller trade was for Bo and not for Petey. Miller and Pearson could be the legitimate answer to the rotating Horvat wingers issue.

Fwd Line 3: The Reclamation line. Baertschi is a wildcard but can provide some scoring. Eriksson is an NHL player contrary to Armchair GM belief and solid defensively while searching for his long lost scoring touch. Sutter ties the line together with solid two way play and faceoff ability.

Fwd Line 4: The depth energy and scoring line. Beagle makes a great mentor for Jake and knows what it takes to win. Jake and Leivo makeup a solid winger duo and this line will be taking the puck to the net hard.

D line 1: Edler and Myers have played together before in Junior. They will eat up some of the toughest minutes and hopefully push some scoring from the back end as both guys can make plays and shoot the puck.

D Line 2: Hughes and Tanev.
A full season of Hughes is going to be awesome to watch, Pure puckmoving and skating wizard. Tanev is the perfect Dman to pair with Hughes, can provide mentorship, has a great first pass and is always in the right position allowing him to break up plays. Tanev being on this line will allow Hughes to do his thing and push the scoring from the back end. Giving Tanev some easier minutes will also help towards keeping him healthy. He blocks tooo many shots.

D Line 3: Benn and Stecher
Its going to be interesting to see how this pairing comes together. Stecher is probably the Canucks most underrated player and is solid at both ends of the ice. What he lacks in size he makes up for with smarts and is able to make quick passes to get out of trouble. Benn is a great addition to this pairing. Brings a complete all around game. Strong, can skate, pass and play his off side.

Markstrom - Demko
Pretty clear who the starter and backup is. I like the contract Benning got Demmer to sign, good value for a guy who could turn into a starting goalie. Thinking Markstrom resigns for 5×5.

That is an overpay for Brock. If it’s a 4 year deal, the number is closer to 6M per year. Canucks aren’t buying any UFA years.

It really isnt an overpay... Its market value for a guy like Brock with his numbers, ppg and gpg.

Take a look at TSN today, figured this is what he would be looking for, I just hope the last years number isnt too high for the next qualifying offer.

Yes and Mariner is asking for a lot as well. Boesser won’t get it and doesn’t deserve it.
