I don’t think Dallas would make this trade. As a fan I would be pissed if they did

As a Ranger fan...I couldn't blame you for that....Love Kreider- but that's a lot in return for what currently is a rental....I'm sure a re-sign condition would need to be attached to the 1st and I doubt Honka AND Erikksson would warranted

It is a rental but a year long with possibility for extension. Want to make the first conditional then sure. The third rounders in the deal are a wash so Dallas isn’t picking til the 4th round. So deal is a 1st, mid prospect who was a 3rd rounder, prospect out of favor who they were asking for a 4th or 5th for and two years of a 4th line winger. Gets you Kreider for a full year at 2.5 million against the cap. Doesn’t seem too extreme to me

If your assessment of the prospects is consistent with how Dallas FO assesses them...then I guess this isn't so bad....but lets hear from some Stars fans on that one...I just think the condition on the 1st would be required- and the way young, cost controlled talent is at such a premium in this cap era- even though they would be "giving up" on 1 or 2 of their prospects- they would want a Ranger mid tier prospect coming back (Day, Gropp, Gettinger, etc)...certainly not a deal breaker here- but still worth mentioning to finish a deal.

I was going by articles I’ve read over the last month or so. Honka scratched for the last 35 games of the regular season and 13 playoff games. Former first rounder but out of favor and Johns coming back from injury will jump him. Writer from Dallas was saying they hoped to get a 4th so was giving max speculation. Pronman from the athletic had Eriksson as tenth in prospect rankings on Dallas
