The bridge probably works to get iginla off the books, then he signs the long term deal with some money attached.
KyBull liked this.

Don't get me wrong, I love Iginla, but his drop in production and his slow play makes his contract ridiculous. He loves Colorado and is in the final year of his contract so I really don't see his buddy Sakic making any deals - unless it's to a Stanley Cup favorite AND the Avs retain half his salary. What do you think?

No way MacKinnon signs for that either

Very likely he signs a Bridge deal, very much like Duchene did a few years ago. This is based on both his lack of consistent production and injuries (he'll want a year or two to really prove he's an $8m player), and that Sakic hinted that this is likely heading to a Bridge deal.

I doubt if he does sign a bridge deal that the amount is as low as 3.5 mil.

Well the max is $4mil for a Bridge contract, I don't, nor do the Avs, believe he's worth max Bridge.

The Avs are trying for a long-term deal, but I think that Mackinnon thinks he's worth more that $6m a season, which he isn't at this stage in his career. If he did sign for lets say 8 years at $6m, the Avs will in a great position, but Mack thinks he can be a Kane type player making Kane type money in a few years. Two year bridge contract makes more sense for Mack than it does the Avs.

Where did you hear that 4 mil is the highest bridge amount?? lol
Also if you think the Avs think that MacKinnon is not worth at lest 4 mil, you are wrong. MacKinnon is literally the only untouchable player on this roster
