Why would Anaheim give up a 2nd for a guy they can put on LTIR and not have to against the cap?

You're better off signing him for 9.75mil at 3 years so he is an RFA at the end. Which means you can avoid all this sh*t by going to arbitration( I think.... I don't no the exact rules but I know you get arbitration rights on your 3rd RFA contract) that would help both sides.
9.75 is still a massive overpayment, but lets be honest it will probably be a massive overpayment.
